[00:00:18] Gain clarity on your purpose and live your extraordinary life. Welcome your host writer, speaker and coach, Crystal Obregon. Hi there. This is Crystal of Crystal Obregon Coaching with episode number 36 of the Extraordinary Life Podcast.
[00:00:40] Today. I'd like to continue with the topic from podcast number 34, 2 weeks ago of what to do if you don't have a big dream or you don't know what your big dream is. And most of it you'll see is actually the same as if you do know what your big dreams are. [00:01:00] So if you've been following me for a while, you'll know that most mornings I write down five things. I'm grateful for followed by my 10 dreams for 10 years from now.
[00:01:12] And this does two things. One. It brings greater awareness to what is good in my life. And two, I can extrapolate what's most important to me by what I write on that list. And for me over the last two and a half years, family and health has really been the most important. The reason I write down my 10 dreams is also twofold.
[00:01:41] First. Writing them down every day keeps me connected to them. I don't forget them. You know, how time can pass. And then all of a sudden you forgotten what your dreams are. And most people don't do that. Most people don't stay connected to their dreams and that's why they don't achieve them. [00:02:00] And two, I write them as if they had already happened.
[00:02:05] So that basically I'm tricking my mind into believing. They're true. So in my mind, they've already happened and now I'd like to let you in on a few, not so secret secrets. The first is that if you looked at my list of 10 dreams, you probably wouldn't think most of them are all that. When I lead women through my Design Your Decade workshop, whether it's the live version or the prerecorded program, we spend most of the time setting up by evaluating your past year and looking towards the next year of your life.
[00:02:46] In other words, what can you celebrate both big and small wins and what didn't you like? How can you do things differently in the future so that you have a different outcome? And what's important about this is realizing [00:03:00] that it's all about cause and effect your actions, create your results, not the economy, not other people.
[00:03:10] And the more you take responsibility for your life, the more power you have to change it and then comes the dream part. And when I'm talking about dreams, I mean, how do you want your life to be 10 years from now? Who is in your life. What is the quality of those relationships? Where do you live? How do you feel?
[00:03:32] What are you doing with your time? And then I lead you through a process of consolidating it down to 10 dreams. Whether you consider these dreams big or small, taking consistent daily action is key. And also believing that they're possible for you is also super important. And that's all in your head. So, what do I mean by that?
[00:03:57] The first step is [00:04:00] living with intention. If I know that being an extraordinary mom is on my list of dreams, which it is, then I need to decide how I'm going to respond to my kids on a day-to-day basis. And I need to think about this in advance so that I get in a habit of responding instead of reacting.
[00:04:25] Am I going to show gratitude when they're doing well? What if they make mistakes? Well, I can be grateful for that too, because they're learning lessons and I can be grateful that I have a parachute for them just in case. I feel like they're falling too fast. I can decide, am I going to take a deep breath and try to suspend judgment when I'm seeing something that I might not like, or am I going to react?
[00:04:58] And if I don't [00:05:00] manage to avoid reacting, am I going to say, sorry, as soon as possible. So I think about how does an extraordinary mom behave? Yes. Sometimes she sets healthy boundaries and says, no, you can't do that. And sometimes she says yes, to give them room, to make their own mistakes and grow. Another dream of mine for 10 years from now is a big one.
[00:05:28] I feel like it's a big one at least. And it's to be helping more than a thousand women create an extraordinary life. By improving all the areas of their lives and using the high-performance habits in my group, coaching membership, the extraordinary life tribe. If that's one of my dreams, then I need to be helping a smaller number of people now in order to build it up to that many people in 10 years.
[00:05:57] Right? So for me, I coached a small [00:06:00] group through the year in 2021, and then it'll get bigger this year and the next and the next. To make that dream come true. I need identify the things I need to do on a daily, monthly, yearly basis to live into that dream. I need to start by imagining what a life coach with a thousand women in her program would be doing with her time.
[00:06:27] She'd be spending time each week, coaching preparing, setting up structures to help women achieve their goals faster. And also attracting women into the program by providing content like this podcast or my blog or emails or posts on social media. I won't the sitting on my couch watching Netflix and eating bon bons.
[00:06:56] So when I look at my planner on Monday, I [00:07:00] identify the most important tasks to complete for the week. I'd schedule them into my calendar and I'd also schedule and family time because I also said I wanted to be an extraordinary mom. Then another of my dreams is being fit and healthy and exercising every day.
[00:07:19] I'm 52 years old now. So if I want to be fit and healthy at 62, I'd better be working at being fit and healthy now. And I want to say that this was not on my list of dreams when I first started two and a half or three years ago by writing my dreams every day and looking at what I was grateful for. I realized, wait a minute, how come fitness and health aren't even on my list of dreams.
[00:07:50] So I moved things around and prioritized my house. So now when I look at my planner, [00:08:00] I'd better be blocking off time to exercise, and I should also be making sure I have groceries in the house to make healthy meals and making healthy meals. I feel is also part of being an extraordinary mom. So there's crossover between all 10 of my dreams and there probably is with yours.
[00:08:24] Following my dreams with my business is also being an extraordinary mom because I'm showing my kids that my dreams matter. And I'm being a role model showing them that they can pursue their dreams to whatever they are, however big they are. So do you see how dreams don't necessarily have to be these great big, scary thing?
[00:08:51] Or they don't have to be somebody else's dreams. They can be your own dreams. Your dreams are simply another way of [00:09:00] saying, I know how I want my life to be. And as I move forwards towards how I want my life to be, I'll be even more aware of the opportunities that I have and my dreams might become bigger or they might shift in another direction.
[00:09:21] And another way to think about this is that basically we're always moving forward or backwards. It's like swimming in a river and there's a current, if you swim, you move forward. If you stop swimming, you go backwards. You don't stay in the same place. And depending on the season of the year or of your life, you may have to swim harder or easier to keep moving forward.
[00:09:48] And sometimes. You have to swim out of the current because you've realized that you're going in the wrong direction. So for example, if I [00:10:00] exercise most days, I'll be getting fitter. If I don't, I'll be slipping backwards, but sometimes I'll take a break for a few days or longer if I've worked especially hard.
[00:10:12] So maybe two steps forward. One step back. But sometimes that's what will keep me fresh and moving forward in the long-term being aware of what I need to be doing or not doing in all the areas of my life is what helps me learn to take the right actions to move forward. And don't forget that sometimes taking the wrong action.
[00:10:37] We'll move your forward. Eventually by teaching you a lesson it's stagnation that really keeps you in one place or moving backwards, I hope this makes sense to you. This is really the first step for me in helping women create an extraordinary life. I help them become more aware of what they really want to have in [00:11:00] their lives, who they want to be and what they want to be doing with their lives.
[00:11:07] Next week. I'll talk about how I use the high-performance coaching curriculum to increase the self-awareness of where you are, where you want to go and how to get there. And to show you that even with a grandiose title, like high-performance coaching, it can be used to improve your relationships, your health, your finances, or your spirituality.
[00:11:35] Just as much as it can be used to be a better CEO of a fortune 500 company or become an elite athlete. My next cohort of the extraordinary life, try this starting in April, I'm limiting it to 12 women. So if you'd like to learn more, please join me in one of my free group. Coaching works. That [00:12:00] are happening on the next couple of Thursdays at noon Pacific standard time.
[00:12:05] Or if that time doesn't work for you, make an appointment via my online scheduling calendar to have a chat, to see if my coaching is right for you. All of those links will be in the podcast notes. I'd really love to help you improve your life and make it extraordinary. So have a terrific rest of your day, and I'll see you in here next week.
